An important delegation from the Canary Islands is currently in Japan, participating in the prestigious BitSummit festival in Kyoto, with the goal of establishing new business opportunities and attracting investment for the archipelago's growing video game sector.

The mission, led by the Director General of Organic Coordination and Strategic Projects of the Government of the Canary Islands, David Perez-Dionis, seeks to position the islands as a strategic hub for the global digital entertainment industry.
The Canary Islands delegation is made up of representatives from the Invest in the Canary Islands area of Proexca, members of Canary Islands Games, the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) and the Regional Video Game Association of the Canary Islands (ARCADEV). Their presence at the BitSummit has been possible thanks to the efforts of the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo, facilitating key meetings and exploring growth opportunities.
During the event, which takes place at the convention center Miyako MesseThe delegation has held meetings with various international studios interested in expanding their operations. The main objective is to showcase the Canary Islands' considerable potential, including its tax incentives and emerging talent, so that these companies consider establishing new lines of business on the islands.
Significant Advances and Next Steps
As part of this strategic mission, progress has been reported in negotiations with renowned studios such as Adglobe, Studio 4ºC y Room 24Prior to BitSummit, the Canary Islands delegation visited the studios' facilities in Tokyo, where they were given a detailed presentation on the capabilities and advantages the Canary Islands offers for video game development.
In addition to the meetings with studios, the delegation has met with Hisashi Koshimizu, organizer of BitSummit, as well as with various companies, video game studios, publishers and international delegations from the sector, strengthening the network of contacts and promoting the Canary Islands ecosystem.
Founded in 2013, BitSummit has established itself as Japan's leading festival dedicated to independent video game development. What began as a modest industry gathering has grown exponentially, attracting thousands of enthusiasts, creators, and media outlets from around the world.
The Canary Islands' participation in this Kyoto event serves as a crucial prelude to their upcoming appearance in the Tokyo Game Show, Japan's most important video game fair, which will be held in September of this year. This strategy seeks to consolidate the Canary Islands' position as an attractive destination for investment and development in the global video game industry.
