The agreement, the first of its kind signed by the Japan External Trade Promotion Agency (JETRO) with a Spanish autonomous community, establishes a framework for collaboration for the exchange of information and mutual support for Andalusian and Japanese companies interested in exporting and investing.

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has highlighted the growing harmony between the Andalusian community and Japanese institutions, underlining the importance of this alliance with a world-class organization such as JETRO. "Agreements like this reflect the growing complicity that exists between Andalusia and Japan", said Moreno, who also valued the collaboration between JETRO and the TRADE Agency, the Board's foreign promotion arm, in pursuit of common goals in key sectors such as industry and energy.
A crucial point of the meeting was the recognition of Andalusia's role as one of the most advanced regions globally in the production of green hydrogen. In this regard, JETRO has confirmed its participation in the National Congress and the European Congress of Green Hydrogen, to be held in Huelva and Seville in March 2026, which strengthens Andalusia's position as a hub for energy innovation. "We are very pleased that Andalusia's role as a producer of green hydrogen is being recognized, as well as JETRO's participation in the upcoming green hydrogen conferences in our region," added the Andalusian president.
The TRADE Agency, with an established office in Japan, has been instrumental in building this trade bridge. Last year, the office carried out twenty-two promotional actions, including presentations of Andalusian products in Tokyo and Osaka, business missions wine and oil, and the identification of business opportunities. This year, the intensity of activities is expected to continue, with a focus on promoting specific companies and projects related to investment opportunities.
Present at the meeting in Tokyo were Nobutaka Maekawa, Executive Vice President of JETRO, and Takaharu Horinouchi, general manager of JETRO Spain.
Industrial Investment: Takahata Bets on Andalusia
During his visit to Japan, President Moreno also met with executives from the Takahata industrial group, a leader in the design and manufacture of plastic and metal products for sectors such as the automotive, healthcare, and optical industries. Moreno celebrated the meeting. takahata, with a turnover of 341 million euros and almost 5.000 employees globally, has reaffirmed its expansion plans in La Carolina, Jaén.
This decision is a significant boost to the recovery of the automotive industry in Andalusia, especially in the province of Jaén, traditionally a hub for the automotive industry in Spain. The factory Takahata in La Carolina, which represented an initial investment of 6,5 million euros, is a driving force for industrial job creation and positions Andalusia as a benchmark community in design, innovation, and renewable energy.
Moreno expressed his gratitude for the hospitality received and emphasized the importance of generating synergies and mutual commitments with an "Asian giant" like Japan, which he considers key to the present and future of Andalusia in its goal of attracting investment and creating jobs.
At both meetings, the Andalusian president was accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds, Carolina España; the Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mines, Jorge Paradela; the Minister of Tourism and Andalusian Foreign Affairs, Arturo Bernal; and the Secretary General for Foreign Affairs and the European Union, Enric Millo.
