The announcement was made within the framework of a reverse mission organized by both institutions together with the Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands, where they met with Senegalese public officials from various sectors. This mission seeks to strengthen cooperative ties and boost economic growth between the two regions.

ATCLIMA Project Details

The project ATCLIMA It defines itself as a "dynamic advisory system for companies to develop high-impact public infrastructure and services in the fight against climate change and environmental resilience." Its main objective is to improve the capacity of public administrations to address environmental and climate challenges through innovative solutions from the private sector.

The Senegalese partners in this project are the Agency for the Development and Management of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ADEPME), the Senegalese Society for the Development and Promotion of Coasts and Tourist Areas (SPACO), the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition, and the State Secretariat for Urban Planning and Housing.

The work will focus on strategic sectors in Senegal, such as sustainable tourism’s most emblematic landmarks, the urbanism, dwelling and coastal management, and will be carried out in three phases:

  1. 1 phase: Systematization of an operating protocol and creation of practical tools.

  2. 2 phase: Adaptation of this protocol to Senegal's priority issues.

  3. 3 phase: Implementation of technical assistance, where Canarian and Senegalese companies will collaborate with the administrations to co-design solutions.

These solutions will be validated and integrated into local policies, which, according to project leaders, will generate sustainable changes and strengthen territorial cooperation between Africa and Europe.
