A delegation of Peruvian exporting companies from the Association of Agricultural Producers' Guilds (AGAP), in collaboration with the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PromPerú), conducted a return mission to the Port of Algeciras. This visit is part of the closing ceremony of their participation in the FruitAttraction Fair in Madrid and seeks to strengthen logistical ties for the growing trade of reefer products between the two territories.

The Peruvian delegation, headed by representatives of AGAP, has experienced firsthand the main infrastructures through which their products transit upon arrival in Europe. The tour included a visit to the container terminal in APM Terminals Algeciras, the terminals specialized in cold storage and, notably, the Border Control Post (PCF).
The visit to PCF It occurs precisely on the first anniversary of the implementation of the new protocol for the control of fruits and vegetables, a pilot project that has proven effective in Algeciras and is being extended to the rest of Spain.
After inspecting the facilities, the delegation participated in a Technical Conference centered on the logistics reefer, organized by the Port Authority of Algeciras (APBA). The event was attended by companies from the Port Community and speakers from relevant institutions such as AGAP, Invest in Spain, ICEX, ATEIA, TransIberian Foods, APBA and the PCF.
The port is a key trading partner for the Andean country, with refrigerated (reefer) containers growing by 80% over the last five years.
Europe, a crucial and expanding market
gabriel amaro, President of AGAP, highlighted during the day the strategic importance of the primary sector in his country. Amaro explained that, along with mining, the farming It is one of the greatest potentialities for the development of Peru's international trade, although he stressed: "we're just getting started".
The Peruvian agricultural sector has ambitious growth plans, with an expectation of double current agricultural exports in a decade. Despite the existence of "many" community regulations, the president of AGAP stressed that Europe is a market “very important” for Peru.
