COFIDES channels €50 million from the FOCO Fund toward next-generation infrastructure through Vesper.

 

The Spanish Development Financing Company, COFIDES, has announced its participation in the fund Vesper Next Generation Infrastructure Fund I SCSp (the Fund) with a financial commitment of 50 millones de eurosThis investment is made through the Co-investment Fund (FOCO), a key instrument of the Spanish Government, endowed with 2.000 millones de euros from the resources NextGenerationEU of the PRTR addendum.

 

Vesper's main objective is to achieve a total uptake of 800 millones de euros for its Fund. The strategy focuses on supporting the segment of the medium-sized companies in Spain that are active in sectors considered strategic for the future of the economy. These include the energy transition, sustainable mobility, digital infrastructure and the circular economy.

 

Angela Perez, president and CEO of COFIDES, highlighted the importance of the commitment: “The fund, led by Vesper Infrastructure, focuses on mid-sized companies operating in strategic areas such as the energy transition, sustainable mobility, digital infrastructure, and the circular economy. These investments are essential for driving sustainable growth and strengthening competitiveness in Spain.”. Pérez also underlined the value of the moment, indicating that COFIDES' participation in the Fund is “At a particularly opportune time, it contributes to reducing the structural financing gap in this type of project and reinforces our commitment to decarbonization and sustainability.".

 

This strategic move seeks to finance and promote Spanish companies focused on creating decarbonized, connected, and sustainable infrastructure, reinforcing Spain's commitment to the ecological and digital transition.

The FOCO Co-investment Fund was created with the fundamental purpose of boost foreign investment in the Spanish economyIts operations are designed to enhance access to financing for Spanish companies linked to the green and digital transitions, as well as with the technological innovation. Investments made through FOCO necessarily require the contribution of a foreign co-investor, and can be implemented either through direct investment in companies or through the participation in investment funds as is the case with Vesper.
