The Basque maritime industry sets sail for Rotterdam to showcase its capabilities at the international trade fair

The Basque Maritime Forum coordinated the prominent participation of the Spanish maritime industry at Europort Rotterdam, one of the sector's key events in Europe. Leading Basque companies showcased their technological capabilities and commitment to sustainability, reinforcing the Basque Country's position as a cutting-edge naval and maritime hub on a global scale.

El Basque Country maritime industries clusterThe Basque Maritime Forum (FMV) has concluded its participation in the international fair Euro port 2025, held this week in Rotterdam. This event, fundamental in the European calendar, focuses on critical areas such as naval building, the maritime transport and specialized niches in which the Dutch market stands out, such as dredgers, the river market and tugboats.

 

The presence at Europort, which is being developed with the support of ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, is an action of long haul for the FMV, which carries more than a decade coordinating the Spanish industry pavilion. The main objective of this coordination is threefold: facilitating business participation, to showcase technological developments of the sector and to promote international cooperation.

The Basque Maritime Forum brings together 160 partners with the mission of improving the competitiveness and the for Growth of the sector. Economic data underscores the importance of this industry for the Basque Country: It generates a combined turnover of 3.000 billion euros; Reinvests the 5% of revenue in R&D&I; It contributes the It represents 4.7% of the Basque GDP and provides employment direct and indirect to 28.000 people.
