The Agriculture and Livestock Show, EXPO SAGRIS, celebrates its second day with a great reception by professionals and the general public, establishing itself as a strategic benchmark for the Spanish agri-food sector.
Organized by IFEMA MADRID in collaboration with the Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture (ALAS), the event was inaugurated yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, louis planes, who was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of La Rioja, Noemí Manzanos, and regional representatives from Andalusia, Murcia, Valencian Community, Madrid, the Canary Islands and Catalonia.
Untrue Congress and Food Sovereignty
The main activity of the second day is the Untrue Congress, which brings together experts, producers, researchers and communicators to discuss the present and future of solar greenhouses in southern Europe. The congress underlines its essential contribution to the food sovereignty from the continent, ensuring a stable supply of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year.
At the inauguration, alongside Minister Planas, the following individuals spoke: Daniel Martínez, Executive Vice President of IFEMA MADRID; Pedro Barato, President of ASAJA and of the Organizing Committee of EXPO SAGRIS; and Juan Ignacio Antonio Senovilla, President of ALAS.
Bringing the Countryside Closer to the City
During the first day, EXPO SAGRIS welcomed numerous professionals and, in particular, to children and young students who participated in educational visits.
In their efforts to "bring the countryside closer to the city" and "highlight the strategic importance of agriculture and livestock farming," FEPEX and its Sectoral Committees continue their outreach activities. These include:
-
El stand of the Committee for Lettuce, Broccoli and other vegetables (Proexport), which shows the production process and the available varieties.
-
El Coexphal interactive stand, with representations of crops grown outdoors and in greenhouses.
-
Educational activities for schoolchildren and product tastings of Potato Committee.
-
The gardening workshops of Flowers and Plants Committee.
EXPO SAGRIS, which is supported by ALAS (which includes ASAJA, COAG, FEPEX, UPA, Agro-food Cooperatives, among others), will remain open until tomorrow, Saturday, at 19:00 p.m. for professionals and the general public.
