The Canary Islands showcases its maritime potential at Europort Rotterdam to world leaders

A prominent delegation from the maritime marine sector of the Canary Islands has landed in Rotterdam to participate in Europort, the most relevant biannual fair for the international maritime industry.

With the support of the Canary Islands Governmentthrough ProexcaA total of 14 professionals from the public and private ecosystem, along with companies and entities from the transnational project A3MAtlanticThey seek to strengthen their position and generate business before an audience of more than 24.000 professional visitors and 1.000 exhibitors.

 

The Canary Islands mission, which is part of one of the world's largest maritime B2B platforms, is made up of representatives from Canary Islands Maritime Cluster and leading companies in the port value chain such as Boluda & Suárez, Repnaval, Napesca, Grupo Anidia, Astican, La Luz Market, ATI-COM and TMBThe Proexca delegate in Brussels, María José Castellano, accompanies the delegation, highlighting the institutional support for the internationalization of the sector.

 

A Strategic Focus on the Blue Economy and Innovation

 

Participation in the fair, which takes place in Rotterdam - declared 'Maritime Capital of Europe'in 2024—, represents a crucial opportunity for Canary Islands companies. Europort is characterized by a highly qualified visitor profile, where the 88% of attendees report having decision-making authority or direct influence in purchasing processesThis high density of decision-makers maximizes the potential for generating agreements and expanding the business vision.

 

The Europort 2025 edition places special emphasis on the innovative technology and complex shipbuilding, covering key sectors such as offshore accountsNaval, fishing, and superyacht sectors. The agenda is structured around pressing challenges such as... Energy Transition and Naval Financing, crucial to boosting decarbonization in line with the IMO and European Union (EU 2050) objectives.

 

Transnational Cooperation with A3MAtlantic

 

The presence of the Canary Islands delegation in Rotterdam is possible thanks to A3MAtlantic Project (Strengthening the sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs that make up the productive fabric of the Blue Economy sectors in the Mid-Atlantic).

 

Within the framework of this project, co-financed 85% by ERDF funds From the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 Program, the Canary Islands delegation is accompanied by strategic partners from other Atlantic regions:

 

  • Wood: Scientific entities such as ARDITI and the Madeira Ocean Observatory.

  • Azores: Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Angra do Heroismo (CCIAH) and transport and port management companies such as TMG, OPERTERCEIRA and BENTRANS.

  • Cape Verde: Business and industrial promotion entities such as the Chamber of Commerce of Barlavento (CCB) and the Agenciae da Zona Económica Especial de Economía Marítima em São Vicente (AZEEMSV).

  • Ghana: The Centre for Enterprise Learning (CELGhana), focused on training and entrepreneurship.

 

This multi-level collaboration allows the Canary Islands and its Atlantic partners to jointly showcase their scientific, technological and business capabilities, reinforcing their strategic positioning in the global Blue Economy.
