The Port of Cartagena is making a significant effort to gain market share in the containerized cargo sector. ISO 9002 certification, the new 40-ton crane, and the expansion of its refrigerated container capacity are clear signs of this effort.

As for the facilities, on a 400 m long dock with a draft of 12,50 m, with a total area of 140.000 m2, there are two container cranes: one of 36 tons, with a reach of 11 containers in the beam of the ship, and another of 40 tons, with a reach of 13 containers; double RO/RO shovel for this type of traffic, RENFE terminal in the same port, Border Inspection Post for third countries and for all types of goods, 100 lux lighting, surveillance cameras and 80 plug sockets for refrigerated containers, allowing a performance of 25 containers per hour.
