Banco Azteca expands throughout Latin America

Banco Azteca plans to expand its presence throughout Latin America by opening 85 more branches by the end of 2008.


This bank has the largest number of accounts in Mexico and is a subsidiary of the Grupo Elektra retail chain. Its plan is to begin operations in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and El Salvador, while also expanding its presence in Panama, Guatemala, and Honduras, according to Luis Niño de Rivera, the bank's vice president.


Niño de Rivera, according to some news agencies, assured that Banco Azteca will increase its number of branches and points of sale outside of Mexico by 40%.
