The president of the CEI·MAR Foundation, Eduardo González Mazo, together with the rectors and representatives of the universities, research centers and companies that make up the CEI·MAR Foundation, have attended the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the highest governance body of the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea where, among the different topics addressed, the adhesion as patrons of Banco Santander and the Confederation of Businessmen of Andalusia (CEA).

 

Thus, CEA and Banco Santander They add to the list of companies and corporations already adhered to the CEI·MAR Foundation: Cepsa, Telefónica or Endesa. The incorporation of the new trustees also occurs at the first meeting of the Board of Trustees after the promotion of the Campus to CEI Global by obtaining at the end of last year the highest possible rating (capital A) by the international commission of experts in charge of evaluating the progress of these scientific aggregations in teaching, research, innovation, transfer and dissemination.

 

In his speech, Gonzalez Mazo He had words of gratitude to “all the entities for the magnificent five-year work developed to be CEI Global and – thus – be in the honor division” of the campuses of excellence. At the same time, he highlighted that “this act is a lot for us” as it shows “that there is no turning back and that nothing is going to stop us” in our commitment to consolidate “a complex science-innovation-university-business system to be a useful instrument and, with all our potential and the support of our human capital, generate innovation and be competitive as a basis for important socioeconomic development.”

 

 

CEA and Banco Santander join the list of companies and corporations already members of the CEI•MAR Foundation: Cepsa, Telefónica or Endesa

 

 

The rector of the ACU has pointed out that “the union of institutions, universities, research centers and companies is essential to continue moving forward.” Hence the meaning of the new accessions to the Board of Trustees of the CEI·MAR Foundation. With Banco Santander, for example through the analysis and implementation of joint actions to support and support the innovation strategies of small and medium-sized companies that carry out their activity in any of the marine-maritime sectors. And with the CEA, so that Andalusian businessmen find in the CIS·Mar support for the development of their innovation strategies, to improve the qualification of their human resources and to respond to their scientific-technological needs.

 

In among other matters, the Board of Trustees of the CEI·MAR Foundation has addressed the activity plan for 2017, especially focused on presenting to companies from all marine-maritime sectors the potential of the Campus based on the six recently established areas of specialization: Health and Sea, Logistics and Maritime Transport, Naval and Offshore Industry, Marine Living Resources, Blue Tourism and Marine Renewable Energies. Likewise, it has approved the appointment of Juan José Vergara (Professor of Biology at the UCA) as the new general coordinator of the CEI·MAR and Fidel Echevarria (Professor of Ecology at the UCA) as director of the International Doctoral School in Marine Studies (EIDEMAR) and responsible for the international scientific relations of the Campus.

 

In its session, the Board of Trustees was attended by rectors, vice-chancellors and representatives of the universities of Almería, Granada, Málaga, Huelva, Abdelmalek Essaadi (Morocco) and Algarve (Portugal), Carmelo Rodríguez, Luis Cruz, Juan T. López, Francisco Ruiz, Houdaifa Ameziane and Pedro Ferré -respectively-, as well as the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), of the Andalusian Institute for Agricultural, Fishing, Food and Ecological Production Research and Training (IFAPA) and the Underwater Archeology Center of the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage, Eduardo Balguerías, Catalina Fernández and Carmen García –respectively-, of the Navy Hydrographic Institute, Juan Antonio Aguilar, Antonio Pascual by Endesa, Mª Jesus Almanzor by Telefónica, in addition to Luis Mario Blanco by Banco Santander and Javier Sánchez Rojas by the CEA.
