Starting the Caribbean high season with improved facilities
This commitment to modernize its Latin American portfolio will culminate at the end of 2017 with the conclusion of the ambitious remodeling project of one of its flagships, El Embajador a Royal Hideaway Hotel, in Santo Domingo.
After the reforms undertaken in recent years by Barceló Hotel Group to renovate its 2 large resorts in Caribbean, the Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort (Dominican Republic) and the Barceló Maya Grand Resort (Mexico), the chain began a plan in 2016 to partially or completely renovate 12 of its most important hotels in Latin America. Thanks to this initiative, whose investment has exceeded 110 million dollars, all of them have started the high season in the Caribbean with their improved facilities.
Hotels from Occidental Hotels & Resorts
Many of the renovated establishments belonged to the chain Occidental Hotels & Resorts, that Barceló Hotel Group acquired in August 2015, and these improvements respond to the need that some of them had to adapt their standards to those of the group. Furthermore, the chain has made the implementation of these improvements coincide with the introduction of its new brand architecture, causing some establishments to change their brand in order to better define their segmentation.
With this initiative, the chain wanted to modernize the hotels that were incorporated with the purchase of Occidental Hotels & Resorts, while increasing their respective standards to meet the requirements demanded by the new brand architecture of Barceló Hotel Group.
