BCIE and ICO Signed a 150 Million Dollar Agreement for Sustainable and Digital Projects with Spanish Companies

The president of the BCIE, Gisela Sánchez, explained that cooperation with the BCIE is attractive for Spanish companies and stressed that “there is a win-win relationship between Spain and the Bank, which has been demonstrated and has greatly benefited Spanish companies.” Sánchez stressed that work will also be done with the European Union to “attract closer ties with Europe and take better advantage of the potential that Central America has at this time.”

Speaking at a business forum organised by the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE), Sánchez highlighted the collaboration with Spain in recent years, stating that “Spain and these 20 years are an example that a country, supporting us not only with economic resources, but with alliances and with knowledge and experience, is as valuable as the financial resources we receive.” He added that the CABEI must become a generator of financial solutions for sustainable development, improving water and waste management in the region, protecting biodiversity and promoting the decarbonisation of the economy.

ICO President Manuel Illueca did not make any statements on this occasion, but the agreement includes financial resources for the digitalisation of companies and the promotion of technology and artificial intelligence in the region.

The agreement was signed in the context of a business forum organised by the CABEI in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE), ICEX Spain and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
