Bonet calls for strengthening economic ties between Spain and China to achieve a "more balanced" trade balance

 

Bonet's call took place during his speech at the Business Forum held in Chengdu, within the framework of Their Majesties the King and Queen's State Visit to China. The meeting was organized by the State Secretariat for Trade (through ICEX Spain Export and Investment), the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and CEOE, bringing together key players from the private sector of both countries.

 

Strategic Partnership in the Face of Global Uncertainty

 

During the forum, both the opportunities and challenges presented by the trade and investment relationship between Madrid and Beijing were analyzed. Bonet emphasized the deep integration of both nations into global value chains.

 

"Spain and China are strongly integrated into global value chains and we must work together because our strategic partnership will make us stronger," said the Chamber's president.

 

China is Spain's leading trading partner in Asia and fourth globally, with trade reaching €53.000 billion in 2024 and over 400 Spanish companies operating there. 

 

In a complex international context, marked by risks and threats, Bonet stressed that collaboration opens up "numerous opportunities in new countries and new sectors" for all companies, with a special focus on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

 

China: A Key Partner for Spain

 

China is consolidating its position as a strategic trading partner for Spain, being the Spain's first trading partner in Asia and fourth globally.

 

The 2024 figures reflect the intensity of this relationship, with trade exceeding 53.000 millones de eurosFurthermore, the Asian giant is home to more than 400 Spanish companies implemented in high-value sectors such as automotive, technology and cosmetics.
