The volume of the expansion is above 90 million euros
CAF has closed the agreement to extend the contract awarded in June 2019 that covered the supply of trains for DLR, managed by Transport for London (TfL).

The expansion agreement includes the supply of 11 additional units, which will be added to the initial 43 units contemplated in the contract. The volume of this expansion is over 90 million euros.
These new units will be made up, like the previous ones, of 5 cars each, and will provide a series of additional improvements to passengers, which include, among others, the most advanced technology in terms of real-time visual and audio information about the trip. , in addition to air conditioning, mobile device charging points, multi-use areas (for child seats, bicycles and luggage) and spaces reserved for wheelchairs.
Precisely, this past February the presentation ceremony for the first unit of the initial contract took place in London, which was attended by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, who recalled that the new units will bring with them a 10% increase in the capacity of the DLR train fleet, a system that with its more than 90 million journeys a year is currently the most used light rail of the United Kingdom.
This contract further consolidates CAF's recent trajectory in the United Kingdom railway market, reaffirming the company's recent successes in the country, where it has developed several contracts with various operators.

The testing phase of the units is being developed optimally, for the presentation of the trains starting in 2024, we trust that the reception of this new fleet will contribute to the success of DLR.”
