CAF will supply 22 Intercités Oxygène trains to SNCF Voyageurs for the Bordeaux-Marseille line

The French operator SNCF Voyageurs has renewed its confidence in CAF, awarding it the supply of 22 new Intercités trains, known as Oxygen, which will operate on the line Bordeaux-Marseille. This new order complements the 28 trains previously contracted for the routes Paris-Limoges-Toulouse and Paris-Clermont-Ferrand, under a contract that included the possibility of expanding up to 75 additional units.

The project is financed by the French State, which is responsible for managing the TET (Trains d'Équilibre du Territoire) network, which covers medium and long distance services between cities not connected by high speed. The new trains will offer a total capacity of 420 seats, distributed between first and second class, and will be equipped with ergonomic seats designed especially for this series, as well as featuring modern technology such as LED lights, ports USB and WiFi.

Manufacturing will be carried out entirely at CAF's facilities located in Alsacia, where a large part of the initial order is already being produced. This additional order ensures continuous work for the plant until 2029. The Alsatian plant is a key pillar of the CAF group thanks to its technical office made up of more than 130 specialised engineers and technicians.

The trains are currently undergoing rigorous testing in I command (Czech Republic) to validate its design and performance. Final testing is expected to begin in autumn 2025 on the French rail network, thus allowing its entry into commercial service planned for 2026 after obtaining the necessary authorisations.

This development underlines the French State's commitment to the modernisation of national rail transport and reaffirms CAF's strategic position as a key supplier within the European railway sector.
