Carlos Mazón leads an urgent mission to the US in response to the threat of tariffs on the Valencian economy.

The main objective of this trip is to gauge firsthand the potential impact of the announced increase in tariffs by the US administration in strategic sectors for the ValenciaThe Minister of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, Marian Cano, made this announcement after a crucial meeting with the Valencian sectors that will be directly affected by this tariff policy.

The Valencian delegation plans to visit the cities of New York and Miami, two enclaves where companies from the Valencian Community have a significant presence through their subsidiaries. This strategic choice will allow the Generalitat to establish direct contact with the American operations of Valencian companies, thus understanding their concerns and needs in this new commercial scenario.

Prior to this institutional mission, Councilor Cano will travel to Orlando to participate in the fair Covering, a world-class event for the tile sector. This visit is particularly important given the crucial role the tile industry plays in the Valencian economy and the significant share of its exports going to the American market.

“The fundamental objective of this mission is to understand firsthand the needs of our businesses and take action on the ground,” declared Regional Minister Marián Cano with determination. “We are always focused on the need to advocate for a gradual reopening that will allow for a tariff-free environment for the Valencian Community’s industry.”

The minister called for "total institutional coordination" to address the tariff issues, emphasizing the crucial role that the European Union"Europe must lead with a strong and united position because the international competitiveness of the European common market is at stake, with all that this means for Spanish production," Cano warned.

Following the meeting with the affected sectors, led by President Mazón, Cano was emphatic in demanding a "state response commensurate with the tariff challenge and the uncertain international outlook."

Cano also recalled that the Generalitat has formally requested the Spanish Government that "all aid that is activated be transparent, and that it give special consideration to the SMEs and that the autonomous communities participate in that process."

The minister vehemently defended the Generalitat's position: "free trade versus protectionism, intelligence in negotiation versus arrogance, and fiscal, regulatory, and structural reforms so that companies can face this emerging international trade scenario with guarantees."

Marián Cano pointed directly to "Valencian companies with branches in the United States" as the most vulnerable to the new tariff policy, reiterating the "institutional support of the Valencian administration and government in the legitimate defense of the activity and employment of companies in the Valencian Community."

Along these lines of support, he conveyed that the Generalitat is in an "initial phase of monitoring the impacts produced by the announcements of the American Administration and of coordinating to activate a joint response with the affected companies."

The regional minister was clear in stating that "we will not allow the tariff pause to cause harm to companies in the Valencian Community that export to the United States, because the announced tariffs will directly affect the business of more than 8.500 companies in our territory and especially the 150 stable exporters that have branches in the North American country."
