In a context of international instability, exports of Castilla la Mancha have experienced a remarkable growth, reaching record figures during the month of October. According to the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, exports exceeded for the first time 1.000 millones de euros in that month, representing an increase of 26,3 % compared to the same period last year. This achievement places the region as the third with the best year-on-year performance in Spain.
The advisor stressed that this progress is taking place despite global adversities: “Exports have had a very positive performance in the month of October in the region, not only because the record for this month has been broken, exceeding 1.000 million euros in foreign sales for the first time, but because it has been a very positive month for all provinces”. Indeed, all provinces recorded significant growth: Albacete with an increase of 20,5%, Ciudad Real with 14,7%, Cuenca with 17,4%, Guadalajara leading with 53,5% and Toledo with 20,4%.
The year-to-date figure also reflects an upward trend. From January to October of this year, exports grew by 7,8%, reaching 8.829 billion euros. The most notable sectors include the agri-food industry —which represents one in every three euros exported— with a growth of 13,7%, capital goods with an increase of 5,4%, and consumer goods which grew by 2,1%.
By province and during the first ten months of the year: Albacete reached its highest figure with 1.313 million; Ciudad Real exceeded 2.000 billion for the third time; Cuenca presented a slight drop but maintained its third best historical figure; Guadalajara set a new provincial record; and Toledo increased its exports to 2.529 billion.
This performance reaffirms regional leadership in certain key sectors and underlines economic resilience in the face of significant external challenges.
