Castile and León expands its commercial horizon with the addition of Qatar and is committed to young talent.

La Castilla and leon meeting has taken a firm step in its strategy of Capabilities and support for regional talent with the recent approval of two key initiatives. The Board of Directors of the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICECYL) has given the green light to the inclusion of Qatar in its foreign network of trade promoters and the incorporation of students from the Master of Foreign Trade and Digital Business to the program of Talent Scholarships.

These decisions, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, seek to strengthen the competitiveness of the community's companies in the international markets and facilitate the labor insertion of professionals trained in the region.

Qatar: A New Strategic Enclave

Qatar's incorporation into the foreign network of commercial promoters for the period 2025-2027 responds to the country's identification as a foreign market with high potential for the productive fabric of Castilla y León. With an estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $244.690 billion in 2024 and one of the highest per capita incomes in the world ($87.661), Qatar presents itself as a small but expanding economy, characterized by its openness and its few tariff and technical barriers.

In addition to its intrinsic appeal, Qatar is considered a strategic gateway to the region of Middle East and North Africa, thanks to its privileged location and first-class air connections. This adds to the 26 destinations already included in the international network, which will also welcome recent Master's graduates, including cities such as Paris, Dusseldorf, Warsaw, Chicago, Hong Kong, Lima, New York and Dubai.

Boosting Regional Talent with Talent Scholarships

In its commitment to local talent, the Board has also approved the inclusion of twelve students from the 17th edition of the Master's Degree in Foreign Trade and Digital Business, completed last April, as beneficiaries of academic internships in the field of internationalization through the program Talent ScholarshipsThis measure seeks to facilitate employability and retain the talent generated in Castile and León, providing Master's students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in a key sector.

The Talento Scholarships offer a monthly stipend of €1.080 for internships at companies in the region that have had exports representing more than 10% of their turnover in the last two fiscal years.

These scholarships are part of the Talent Strategy 2031, approved last September, is a pioneering initiative with a Comprehensive Action Plan endowed with €348 million for the period 2024-2027. The main objective of this strategy is to create the right conditions for generating, attracting, and retaining talent, boosting business competitiveness and professional and personal development for wealth creation in Castile and León.

It is worth noting that Castilla y León is currently ranked third in talent retention in Spain, fifth in knowledge and sixth in the global position of Cotec Foundation Talent Map, which underlines the region's commitment to the development and promotion of its professionals.
