Marta Martí, Chair of the SME Committee of BusinessEurope, representing CEOE, participated in a high-level conference in Brussels on how SMEs can make the most of the European internal market.
On February 21, a high-level conference took place in Brussels on the current needs of the SMEs to take advantage of the benefits of European internal marketIt was inaugurated and closed by Marta Marti, Representative of CEOE y President of the Entrepreneurship Commission y BusinessEurope SME.
The objective of this conference was twofold. Firstly, to give voice to the demands of the SMEs to improve the European business environment, since they represent 99% of the business fabric and are the backbone of the European economy.
Secondly, to exchange views with senior representatives of the European Institutions, such as the Council and the Commission, on how best to remove the remaining obstacles in the European internal market.

In this context, Marta Marti He stressed the need to move towards an entrepreneurial mindset that rewards initiative and risk-taking. He also highlighted what the priorities of European SME policy should be: improving market access, both in the European internal market and internationally; facilitating financing, which is key to their development; supporting the capacity of SMEs to innovate and participate in the market; Digital Single Market; and simplify the European and national regulatory framework, with fewer and simpler laws, in the areas of relevance for SMEs. All this, without forgetting the urgent need to have a fiscal framework that encourages and does not penalize business growth.
In turn, the BusinessEurope CEO Markus Beyrer, highlighted the importance of improving information tools for SMEs and having a balanced regulatory framework that provides the necessary legal certainty, but is clear and simple. In the area of digitalisation, he recalled the need to promote the free circulation of data to take advantage of the benefits of the digital single market.
