The director of the Department of Internal and Legal Regime participated in a round table in defense of the market economy, competitiveness and free competition.
The director of the Internal and Legal Regime department of CEOE, José María Campos, participated in the VII Chile-Spain Transparency and Good Government Forum held in Madrid with a conference in which he defended the market economy, competitiveness and free competition. In his speech, he analyzed the challenges they face Europe and Spain in terms of competition law, in a globalized and technological environment like the current one, underlining the essential legal certainty, essential to guarantee the stable growth of the economy, as well as the need for European companies to be able to compete on equal terms with those of the rest of the world.
VII Chile-Spain Transparency Forum
José María Campos He also highlighted the efforts that are being made from the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) to bring competition law closer to companies, as well as the collaborative role of business organizations in this dissemination. In this sense, he highlighted the initiatives carried out among the CEOE and CNMC in recent years.
Lastly, José María Campos highlighted the need to deepen the development of Market Unity Law to end the restrictive and fragmented nature of regulation in Spain, which prevents companies from taking advantage of economies of scale, harming the country's competitiveness, as has been highlighted CEOE and has highlighted the European Commission in several reports on Spain.
In the round table, moderated by Antonio Guerra, partner in the Competition Law area of Uría Menéndez, José María Campos was accompanied by Beatriz de Guindos, director of the CNMC Competition, and Rodrigo Alvarez, member of the Free Competition program of the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC), former Minister of Energy and former President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile.
Throughout the entire day, which was inaugurated by José María Marín, president of the CNMC; José Vicente Saz; rector of the University of Alcalá de Henares; Emilio Gilolmo, president of the Chile-Spain Foundation; and Jorge Tagle, ambassador of Chile in Spain, experiences from both countries in the areas of transparency and good governance were presented and discussed, the importance of free competition against lobbying and the need for efficient regulation in the new digital era was analyzed.
