Looking ahead to the next Spanish Presidency of the European Union

In this meeting, in which positions were exchanged on the priorities of the next Spanish Presidency of the European Union, the vice president Íñigo Fernández de Mesa, the president of CEOE International, Marta Blanco, the deputy director to the general and corporate secretary, Luis Socías, and the head of the Industry and Energy area, Alvaro Ballarín.
During the meeting, a general overview of the current state of the Spanish economy was offered, highlighting the importance of the foreign sector and the orientation of Spanish companies to the international arena. In this sense, competitiveness was highlighted as one of the main priority factors and the need to provide companies with tools to do so.
In this way, the importance of rstrengthen trade policy given the relevant role it can play in improving the competitiveness of companies, and the main regions and countries of interest were identified.
On the other hand, common objectives and challenges were shared in different areas, such as in the industrial sector, and various issues related to the current international context, climate and environmental objectives, the energy transition and European legislation on sustainability were discussed, among other issues.
