"CETECOM secures a major project in Taiwan"

The Communications Technology Center, SA (CETECOM) and SGS Taiwan Ltd. have recently signed an agreement whereby CETECOM will undertake the complete implementation of a Bluetooth equipment testing laboratory at SGS Taiwan Ltd. to meet the growing demand from Taiwanese industry. CETECOM will provide technical assistance, consulting, and training, and will supply the necessary testing platforms for the laboratory's establishment. The laboratory will be equipped with various testing systems developed entirely by CETECOM (BITE Test System).

“Taiwan is the second Asian country, after Japan, in the total ranking of Bluetooth equipment placed on the market. The establishment of the Bluetooth laboratory will help Taiwanese companies strengthen their position within the industry,” commented Fernando Hardasmal, Deputy General Manager of CETECOM. “This contract consolidates our company’s export activity and the strategic position that CETECOM occupies in the technology sector of the Asian country. We are very pleased to have won this contract after a long and tough competition with other European companies.” David Chu, Managing Director of SGS Taiwan Ltd., commented that “until now, the vast majority of Taiwanese manufacturers found it necessary to measure their Bluetooth applications in European or American testing laboratories. The establishment of a laboratory in Taiwan will allow these manufacturers to carry out the tests in Taiwan, with the consequent savings in time and lead times.” He added that “CETECOM’s outstanding technical support will allow SGS to obtain accreditation to become an official Bluetooth Qualified Testing Facility (BQTF) in the near future.”
