CGAA welcomes the continuation of the AEO on customs simplifications after the first reading of the new CAU

 

El CGAA He described the preservation of the OEA of customs simplifications in the first reading of the new Regulation of the Customs Code of the Union (UCU). This result is the fruit of a considerable effort by the General Council, which has mobilised human and material resources to defend the interests of the sector.

 

The uncertainty centered on the initial proposal for reform of the UCC, which proposed the gradual elimination of the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator for Customs Simplifications) certification starting in 2035. Instead, it proposed the implementation of the «Trust and Check Trader", which imposed requirements considered excessive by many companies, especially SMEs.

It is not attractive to SMEs and certainly not to us because, as it is currently designed, it forces us to represent our clients indirectly."

 

The sector's concern was that the inability to comply with the "Trust and Check" requirements could lead companies to operate with less diligence in customs clearances, due to the rigorous risk filters applicable to declarations.

 

The decision of the European Parliament Maintaining the AEO for customs simplifications therefore represents a relief for the sector, which will be able to continue operating with AEO status, guaranteeing efficiency and security in customs processes.

 

The CGAA has a long history of defending the interests of companies and professionals in the sector, both at national and European level. This new success adds to previous achievements, such as the amendments introduced in the Law on Combating and Preventing Tax Fraud, which improved the fight against tax evasion and money laundering.

 

The General Council of Colleges of Customs Agents and Customs Representatives has been recognised for its good management in the European Parliament, and its constant participation in the modernisation of customs processes.
