China consolidates its position as a key market for Spanish agri-food exports.

During his participation in the opening of SIAL Shanghai, one of the most important international fairs in the food and beverage sector in AsiaBusutil emphasized that China will position itself as the world's largest importer of agricultural and food products in 2024, showing steady growth in demand for high-quality products.

The fair SIAL Shanghai, which in its current edition brings together more than 5.000 exhibitors and expects to exceed 175.000 visitors, serves as a clear indicator of the importance of the Chinese market for Spain. Busutil pointed out that Spain has consolidated its position as the third non-EU destination for Spanish agri-food exports, surpassed only by United Kingdom and United States.

Currently, Spain occupies the twentieth place as a food supplier in China, particularly notable in sectors such as pork, olive oil, wine, and cheese. This export success, according to the general director, is based on the distinctive values of Spanish agri-food production: its diversity, safety, sustainability, and healthiness, as well as the commitment and innovation of the sector's business community.

The Spanish presence in this edition of SIAL Shanghai It is notable, with the participation of 58 companies covering a wide range of sectors, including meat, fruit, dairy, milling, nuts, olive oil, and wine. These companies have the institutional support of the Spanish Government and various autonomous communities. Among the most notable pavilions are those of the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries (fairy tale), with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and those promoted by the Regional Government of Castile and León and the Generalitat of Catalonia.
