This extension will extend the current MTM contract until the end of 2026
The State Government of Victoria has announced the extension of the contract with the Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) consortium for the operation of Melbourne's metropolitan passenger rail services for a further 18 months.

UGL, part of the MTM consortium since 2009, will continue to provide essential rail services to the city's residents and visitors. The company currently operates a fleet of 239 six-car trains that travel 998 kilometers of track, transporting 541.000 passengers each weekday.
