The financing provided by COFIDES a GS Inima, a global leader in water and renewable energy solutions, will be allocated to the development, financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 6,3 MWp photovoltaic plant at the Sultanate of OmanThis self-consumption plant will be crucial to feed the desalination plant Barka V, a state-of-the-art infrastructure developed by the Spanish firm that began commercial operations in June last year. The Barka V desalination plant, with a production capacity of 100.000 m³/day, is vital to ensure water security and water supply to 800.000 residents in the most populated regions of Oman, Muscat and Batinah.
This project highlights the GS Inima's commitment to the integration of renewable energies in its water desalination solutions. With a total investment of close to 5 millones de euros and located on an area of 40.000m², the photovoltaic plant will cover approximately 11% of electrical needs of the Barka V desalination plant until June 2044. This initiative represents a significant step in reducing the environmental impact associated with electricity generation from fossil fuels.
