Round table “Mobilization of private co-financing”
The General Meeting of EDFI is an annual meeting that brings together the presidents of the 15 European bilateral development financial institutions, among which is COFIDES.

The president and general director of COFIDES, José Luis Curbelo and Miguel Tiana, participate in the General Board of the European Association of Development Finance Institutions, EDFI extension, which is held in Copenhagen.
For two days, members have analyzed the achievements achieved by promoting development in emerging and developing countries through the financing of private projects, as well as the joint financing mechanisms between these institutions.
At this meeting the round table took place “Mobilization of private co-financing”, in which the president of COFIDES, José Luis Curbelo, together with those responsible for IFU (Denmark), FMO (Netherlands), Citibank and PFA, moderated by the CEO of Proparco, Françoise Lombard.
In his speech, José Luis Curbelo pointed out the “need for persuasion and creativity in the design of operations, since they are essential to successfully deploy development projects that make the initiatives of entrepreneurs a reality and mobilize necessary public and private financial resources. to finance projects with relevant and measurable social impact.”
At the EDFI meeting, Jose Luis Curbelo presented the Huruma Fund, lead by COFIDES, as a successful example of mobilizing private financing towards sustainable development projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
