The impact of the anti-smoking law is decreasing, resulting in benefits for Logista.

Compared to the 21,1 million euros that the Logista Group obtained in the first quarter of 2006, the leading integrated logistics operator in the Iberian Peninsula has managed to increase its net profit in January, February and March of this year by 55,4%, reaching almost 33 million euros, a result that, according to company sources, reflects the good performance of the main lines of business, in particular, the Distribution and Logistics Services division.
The figures demonstrate that the impact of the entry into force of the restrictive tobacco consumption law has been overcome. Sales grew by 23,9% to €227,9 million between January and March 2007, compared to €183,9 million in the first quarter of 2006. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 73,4% in the same period of 2007, reaching €53,8 million. Furthermore, operating profit (EBIT) also grew, in this case by 42,2%, to €43 million. Consequently, earnings per share rose by 57% to €0,74, demonstrating Logista's continued strong value creation for shareholders, complemented by its dividend distribution and share buyback policies.
Logista's Distribution and Logistics Services division primarily includes the distribution of tobacco (Spain, Portugal, and Italy), documents and telecommunications (Spain), promotional materials (Spain and France), convenience products (Spain and Portugal), and pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (Spain). Specifically, sales in this division have increased by 25,8% to €153,5 million in the first three months of the year, and EBITDA reached €48 million, an 83,6% increase compared to 2006.
