In two years, the Hungarian Republic will be a member of the European Union. Hungary, a European country by history and tradition

Hungary is the European country with the most turbulent and arguably the richest history on the continent. Its legacy is still present in the monuments of its cities, such as those found in Heroes' Square in Budapest, some of which depict figures dating back to the 7th century.
Parliamentary sessions were already being held in present-day Budapest in 1298, and by the mid-15th century, the Magyars were under the reign of Matthias Corvinus, who was one of the most brilliant kings in Hungarian history.
Who would have told the regal figure that his image would still appear on the country's legal tender six centuries later!
The country's more recent history is much more familiar to us: the Ottoman Empire's occupation until the Habsburgs came to power in 1686. Since then, there have been various monarchies, World Wars, Communism, and finally a democratic system into which the Hungarian people have integrated themselves in an exemplary way.
