The Ukrainian state-owned air traffic services company Uksatse has selected the Spanish company Indra to design and operate the new Dnepropetrovsk air traffic control center, which will be responsible for controlling the airspace over the southern half of Ukraine.
The contract, worth €10,2 million, has an 18-month execution period and includes the functional design of the new control center and the implementation of air traffic management systems. The Spanish information technology company will implement state-of-the-art systems that meet Eurocontrol specifications, enabling Ukraine to join the group of the most advanced countries in Europe in terms of air traffic management systems. Indra's bid was selected in an international tender launched by the Ukrainian government in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is financing the project. It competed against proposals from the Italian group Alenia and the French company Thales.
Among the most valued aspects of the Spanish proposal are the advanced graphical presentation and the functionality of the data input systems, which allow controllers to optimize flight profiles, reduce waiting times, and expedite decision-making in the area, which experiences heavy air traffic. Another advantage of the proposal is that it facilitates the processing of information from the neighboring control center in Rostov, Russia, which is also equipped with Indra systems.
