The largest shareholder of Altadis is The Bank of New York (10,3%)
The financial institution Deutsche Bank has acquired a 5,54 percent stake in the Spanish-French tobacco company Altadis, according to records from the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
With this stake, Deutsche Bank becomes the fourth largest shareholder in the company, with 14 million shares, valued at 689 million euros, behind The Bank of New York (10,3 percent); Chase Nominees (9,43 percent); and Morgan Stanley (5,76 percent).
The financial group already declared a 5,38 percent stake in Altadis on August 1, which it reduced to 4,92 percent on September 5.
The Franco-Spanish tobacco company is awaiting the decision of the European Commission (EC) and the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on whether or not to authorize the takeover bid launched by the British company Imperial Tobacco, which is offering 50 euros per share.
Shares in Altadis, which earned 247 million euros in the first half of the year, closed today on the Madrid stock exchange at 49,25 euros, 0,06 percent higher than in the previous session.
