GoGreen Plus: the DHL Express tool to reduce your carbon footprint

DHL Express, world leader in international express transport, has developed the GoGreen Plus model as a tool for its customers to measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions associated with their shipments, using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

In Spain, there are already more than 5.000 companies that have joined the GoGreen Plus program, most of them SMEs. Companies receive a certificate with the emissions reduction value that they can use to demonstrate the reduction of their own Scope 3 footprint.

Successful experiences in reducing the carbon footprint

During the day, a debate table was also held which, moderated by Cristina Riestra, head of the Environment and Climate area at CEOE, has had the participation of Nicolas Mouze, Marketing and Sales Director of DHL Express Spain; Adriana Rodriguez, associate researcher at Climate Strategy & Partners, a member company of SME Climate HUB SME; and Christina Pons, Head of Quality and Environmental Department at Camper.

According to Nicolas Mouze, “In the case of DHL Express, our roadmap towards sustainability guarantees that companies that make both international and domestic shipments with us can transport them in the most ecological way possible. Through our service GoGreen Plus “Companies can measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions, that is, those associated with their shipments, by using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).”

For its part, Adriana Rodríguez, highlighted: “In our 3 years of contact with more than 500 SMEs, Climate Strategy has identified a growing interest in joining the ecological transition, with examples of leading SMEs in several regions of Spain that have taken advantage of the economic opportunities offered by a low-cost business model. in carbon. To empower SMEs in this process, we need to join forces between the private sector, civil society and the government, and provide them with the tools and financing they need. This is the mission that we have proposed with the Pact Activating SMEs x CLIMATE and RESILIENCE which have already been signed by more than 21 business platforms, trade unions, professional organizations, civil society organizations, universities and media outlets, with activities reaching 28.000 SMEs in 2024.”

Cristina Pons, wanted to point out that “at Camper we are firmly committed to being a carbon neutral company, so we constantly work to reduce our global impact and especially the footprint of our products. Given the complexity of our collection and the expected growth in sales, we have developed an internal tool to measure the carbon footprint throughout the entire product value chain, from materials to use and end of life. With this tool we can track our SBTi-approved reduction goals and communicate them to all our employees on a regular basis, maintaining commitment throughout the organization.”

The institutional closing of the day was carried out by the deputy director general of Coordination of Actions against Climate Change of the Ministry of ecological transition and demographic challenge, who wanted to reinforce that “the Ministry has always seen the registration of the carbon footprint as an opportunity. This registry is a voluntary measure that must be seen as an opportunity for companies to improve their competitiveness, improve their carbon footprint, their energy efficiency and their use of resources. Currently we are already on our way to 5.000 companies with the registration of their footprint registered, so it is an unstoppable issue that will continue to advance.”
