The report 'Green maritime corridors inside and outside Spain: evaluation of route-based opportunities' made by Global Maritime Forum in collaboration with British embassy in Madrid, has highlighted the strategic situation and commitment to the sustainability of the Port of Bilbao for the development of ecological navigation routes and thus contribute to the objective of achieving the decarbonization of maritime transport.

Specifically, the report highlights the excellent connectivity between the Port of Bilbao and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the potential of the transport routes. “The development of green and digital maritime corridors is a priority for the Port of Bilbao, and fits with the port's growing portfolio of sustainability initiatives. The decarbonization of routes such as those presented in the report will have a great impact due to the volume of goods and passengers they transport and the enormous potential that exists to move from the road to the sea.
