87% of OHL's activity is outside Spain

Interview with Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, president of OHL

"For OHL, what we do outside of Spain, that is, our exports of construction and concessions, is 87% and only 13% is done in Spain," explained Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, president of OHL, to Empresa Exterior. With these figures, he demonstrated the importance of international markets for a company that, as he affirms, has practically all of its activity in the "outside world."

Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL) is an international concessions and construction group with over 100 years of history and a presence in more than 30 countries across 5 continents. "The world offers many opportunities; we operate in more than 30 countries, and in 8 of them we work as if it were a domestic market," Villar Mir points out.

According to the president of OHL, there is a formula that leads companies to success in their internationalization processes: "The formula is the same: work, work and work," he points out, while adding, "Naturally, you have to invest; you have to sow money in order to reap money."

The OHL Group is currently:

  • Strategic promoter of public-private collaboration projects
  • Thirty-first largest international contractor and eighth in Latin America (Ranking. ENR 2015)
  • Reference partner of Abertis, world leader in toll highways
  • International benchmark in hospital and railway construction
