San Francisco Olive oil, among the 100 best in the world

Interview with José Antonio Jiménez, manager of Oleícola San Francisco

Close to the monumental city of Baeza, Oleícola San Francisco has become the first tourist oil mill in the province of Jaén, registered with the Tourism Department of the Junta de Andalucía. In 1989, Manolo Rus and José Jiménez decided to embark on this fascinating world of olive oil, acquiring a small factory in Begijar.

With great enthusiasm and few means they built together what is today a true reality, a family business, traditional and at the same time at the forefront in means of production. The beginnings were difficult and the means they had were those of the time: hydraulic presses, baskets, decanting pits, large atrojes and, above all, the hope each year of obtaining the best possible oil.

The quality of their oils, recognized in many international competitions, and a simple but complete catalog of products have placed them among the most prominent oil mills in the province. Oleícola San Francisco oils have been recognized in the EVOOLEUM contest among the 100 best in the world.

It has facilities fully adapted to guided tours, a parking area for buses, services adapted for the disabled, access ramps, limited areas, a screening room with seats for 25 people, a large tasting room for courses and tastings, etc.
