The line as a moving point is the concept on which the artist Alan Lacke has developed his latest work. The exhibition 'The point as protagonist' can be seen in Zaragoza, in the Carmen Terreros art gallery. The Cuban exhibits 40 pieces that are the result of four years of study. “I define the point as the protagonist, as a line that moves,” explains the artist.
In his creation, Lacke acknowledges having had many influences, given the breadth of the field of abstraction. Klimt, Kandinsky and the American avant-garde are his references. “After the two world wars in Europe, many very talented European artists emigrated and settled, especially in New York. “I have a lot of influence from that avant-garde.”
In 'The point as protagonist' the viewer is an active part of the work, since they can perceive visual effects by looking at the compositions with 3D glasses. To achieve this, Lacke uses óculus virtual reality technology, which plays an important role in a work that is, at the same time, very artisanal. “I wanted to convey that technological sensation from the canvas, in the colors, in the very loose gestures... And from there the technologies began to arrive, I used them and it was great for me,” he says.
This is how Lacke manages to play with chromatic depth and create three-dimensional images from normal ones. The exhibition can be seen until October 7 at the Carmen Terreros gallery in Zaragoza.
