Valenciaport's foreign trade grows by 5,04% during the first quarter of the year

Automobile traffic grows 6,41%

Exports increased by 6,02% and imports registered an increase of 3,38%.

Valenciaport has closed the first quarter of the year with a growth of 5,04% in its foreign trade, with a total of 5.509.856 tons channeled. This figure is mainly due to the good performance of the exports which, until March, increased by 6,02%.

 

In total, in this period, the three ports managed by the Port Authority of Valencia (Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia) They exported 3.498.847 tons.

 

Among the main destinations, the increases in countries such as Italy (+ 4,53%), United States (+7,51%) and Morocco (+24,02%). For their part, imports increased by 3,38% to 2.011.009 tons, motivated by data from countries such as China (+ 13,04%), France (+27,08%); United States (+0,21%) and Türkiye (+29,13%). Despite the good performance of foreign trade, the decrease in transit traffic (-4,50%) has caused total traffic to decrease by 1,23% to a total of 17.305.651 tons.

 

As regards container traffic, the container foreign trade filled maintains the positive trend by registering an increase of 4,80% at the end of the first quarter of the year. In this sense, Valenciaport begins to recover from the effects of the low productivity of the month of February, going from a decrease of 7,98% until the month of February to 5,88% in the accumulated until the month of March. In total, at the end of the first quarter, 1.087.571 TEUs had been channeled. This decline is mainly based on the evolution of traffic (-6,12%) and empty containers (-25,64%).

 

La containerized general merchandise decreases by 1,72% to a total of 12.958.846 tons. La non-containerized general merchandise, on the contrary, increased by 1,69% during the first quarter of the year to a total of 2.761.246 tons. This growth is mainly supported by the good results of steel products, which, with around 620.000 tons, increased by 30,01%. On the contrary, automobiles and their parts experienced a decrease of 3,65% to 364.000 tons. However, if we serve this type of traffic by units, during the first quarter of the year the ports of Valencia and Sagunto They have channeled a total of 205.070 cars, 6,41% more than during the same period of the previous year. For its part, ro-ro traffic decreased by 4,82% to a total of 2.132.064 tons.

 

The liquid bulk, for their part, have closed the first quarter of the year with an increase of 9,75% and a total traffic of 1.029.447 tons. This growth is mainly due to the good results of goods such as natural gas, with a movement of 651.000 tons and an advance of 10,39%; diesel, with a movement of around 133.000 tons and an increase of 18,06%; and chemical products, with a movement of 92.000 tons and a growth of 17,91%.

 

The solid bulk They fell by 18,39% until the month of March, reaching a total traffic of 465.856 tons. In this section, the movements of cereals and their flour stand out (-32,74%) up to 195.000 tons; natural and artificial fertilizers (+32,84%) up to 106.000 tons; and cement and clinker (-27,77%) up to 64.000 tons.

The five countries that have channeled the greatest volume of merchandise through Valenciaport During the first quarter of the year they have been: Spain, with 1,96 million tons and a decline of 5,50%; China, with 1,65 million tons and an increase of 6,38%; Algeria, with 1,13 million tons and a decline of 26,02%; Italy, with 1,12 million tons and a decrease of 10,89%; and United States, with 1,11 million tons and a growth of 1,02%.
