Riera pointed out that Spanish companies "have successfully adapted their strategies to the new framework of bilateral relations established between the United Kingdom and the EU through the Trade and Cooperation Agreement." This resilience is reflected in a significant statistic: The number of exporters from Spain to the United Kingdom has quadrupled in the last five years.
The general director stressed that the competitiveness of Spanish companies in the British market is based on pillars such as "digitalization, sustainability, and low political risk".
The meeting, which took place in London, was attended by key institutional figures, including the Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Charles Body, and the UK Minister for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle, which underlines the importance of bilateral cooperation.
During his speech, Riera highlighted the work of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom to to foster "strong strategic economic and business alliances" between both nations. He also highlighted the fundamental role of the Network of Chambers of Commerce in Spain in providing advice and information to national companies.
The event, co-organized by the Secretary of State for Trade through ICEX Spain Export and Investment, together with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain and CEOE, brought together 220 companies from specialized sectors with high projection, such as health sciences, water, renewable energy and nuclear energy.
This effort to promote internationalization is supported by positive figures: Trade in goods between Spain and the United Kingdom has grown by more than 23% since 2021., consolidating the United Kingdom as the fifth destination for Spanish exports outside the European Union.
