Incubation program with different focuses on emerging technologies

In an event with the media, the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB) has presented the first incubator in Spain dedicated to Logistics 4.0. The project, led by the CZFB with the support of the Incyde Foundation and the European FEDER Funds, already has 30 startups that develop the most cutting-edge technologies and offer innovative solutions, services and products, focused on the value chain of the logistics sector.

This incubation program has different focuses on emerging technologies within logistics 4.0, such as 3D printing, robotics and automated warehouses to optimize processes, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data to convert data into insights business, the last mile (a key element in electronic commerce); Besides the Artificial Intelligence (AI) or green logistics.

The project, promoted by the CZFB with the support of the Incyde Foundation of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce and the European FEDER Funds, already has 30 startups that develop the most cutting-edge technologies and offer innovative solutions, services and products focused on logistics.

"The high-tech incubator for Logistics 4.0 is another element in the consolidation of the logistics hub in Barcelona and a clear commitment to technological innovation and digital skills to increase economic impact and boost the business fabric," he stated. Blanca Sorigué, director of the CZFB, added that "this platform was created with the objective of offering services to the business, scientific and technological community, to add value, both to products and processes, in the different areas of logistics."

The main challenges faced by this program are to improve the efficiency and versatility of production processes, encourage innovation and develop specialized talent, reorient and diversify some of the logistics subsectors; as well as boost and internationalize the incubated initiatives.

For its part, Javier Collado, general director of the INCYDE Foundation, explained that “the Logistics Incubator 4.0 is a new link within the value chain that we at INCYDE have created for the growth of entrepreneurs and companies. The INCYDE Foundation provides services in a comprehensive and personalized manner, which, ranging from training, consulting, incubation and internationalization, has allowed it to work with more than 187.000 students, create 150.000 new jobs, and launch the largest Network of European Hatchery Centers, with 192 infrastructures available to entrepreneurs, companies and startups.”
