Growing importance of Spanish exports

El Director General of International Trade and Investments at the State Secretariat for Trade, José Luis Káiser, participated in the CEOE International Relations Commission, to make known the internationalization process of the Spanish company in the coming years. The Vice President highlighted the growing role of Spanish exports in the Spanish economy, reaching 2015 billion euros in 249.000. Kaiser, in turn, also highlighted the increase in Spanish exports in recent years and its impact on the country's trade balance, and analyzed the trade negotiations of the European Union with third countries or regional blocks (America, Asia, Mediterranean countries). In this regard, he stressed the need to make some adjustments to trade policy, taking into account the changes that have occurred on the international scene.

Internationalization Strategy 2017-2027
To carry out the necessary changes, the following will be adopted: Strategy for the Internationalization of the Spanish Economy 2017-2027, although strategic plans will continue to be developed on a biannual basis. The main objective is to promote the Capabilities, improving competitiveness and promoting the global presence of Spanish companies, especially SMEs. According to Kaiser, it is also intended to increase the foreign trade and investments, increase the propensity to export, diversify the destination markets for exports and investments, increase added value, facilitate financial support for Spanish companies, improve the attractiveness of Spain as an investment destination, increase the participation of companies in the international tenders and develop human capital.

“For the Strategy to be effective, actions will be taken to improve the business climate and attract foreign investment", he reported Jose Luis Kaiser. He also stressed that the common trade policy and multilateral institutions will be used, and that the growth of the company will be encouraged through international financial instruments adapted to SMEs.
