The business forum 'Reopening China to international trade' exposes commercial opportunities for Madrid companies

The president of the Madrid Chamber has reviewed the economic situation of the Asian country, its growth and its role in imports and exports worldwide, and has highlighted the importance of international relations with China.


 

 

China has become a prominent leader in many areas, such as international digital leadership, economic growth, and regional and global economic governance. Given this situation, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid has organized the Business Forum 'Reopening China to International Trade' to analyze the economic situation of the Asian giant and present potential investment opportunities to Madrid companies.

The event, organized in collaboration with SW Spain, was attended by Ángel Asensio, President of the Madrid Chamber; Manuel Llamas, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Community of Madrid; Leanne Liang, representative of the Board of Directors of SW International; Marco Carlei, CEO; Loreta Calero, CEO of SW Spain; and Alicia Varela Donoso, General Director of International Trade and Investments of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Spain.

 

 

 

Manuel Llamas has called for “Madrid to be the gateway for Chinese companies to Spain and Latin America and for China to also be the gateway for Madrid companies.”

 

 

In his speech, the chamber president highlighted the importance of this day at “a time in which the Asian giant is promoting its presence on the international scene after its recent world opening” and in which the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations between China and Spain.

 

In addition, Asensio reviewed the economic situation of the Asian country, its growth and its role within the import and export worldwide, and has highlighted the importance of international relations with China. “In an environment of great volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, with tensions in global chains, neoprotectionism or the prices of energy and raw materials, we consider China a strategic partner for the challenges we have as businessmen and entrepreneurs. ”, he pointed out.

 

For its part, the Deputy Minister of Economy of the regional Executive, Manuel Llamas, has described as “very positive” that the Chinese economy has reopened after the pandemic and leads global growth; and has stressed the importance of “strengthen economic and business ties with such an important market”. Furthermore, she has asked to “reflect on the internationalization possibilities offered by the Asian market that continues to grow year after year.” Finally, Llamas has called for “Madrid to be the gateway for Chinese companies to Spain and Latin America and for China to also be the gateway for Madrid companies.”

 

El Business forum 'Reopening China to international trade' has served to expose the sectors of opportunity offered by the Five Year Plan 2020-2025, their remains and priorities; as well as financing options and risk coverage when carrying out operations with the Asian country; or the prospects for trade and investment relations that exist between the two countries, taking into account that Spain has become the fourth destination for Chinese companies to invest in Europe, only surpassed by Holland, Finland and the United Kingdom. “In 2021, Chinese investment in Spain increased by 90% compared to the previous year, reaching 620 million euros,” noted the president of the Madrid Chamber.

 

On the other hand, there has been talk about the representation of Spanish companies in the Asian giant, which have solid roots in the Chinese market in all sectors and with a presence mainly in the Yangtze Delta, Pearl River Delta or in other urban centers with greater purchasing power and great commercial development.

 

Finally, companies like Huawei, Alibaba, Grape Natural Ingredients or Dekuplé Spain They have presented their business experiences as an example of the success of commercial relations between both countries.
