Caballero stressed the transversal nature of FENAVIN, pointing out that the fair belongs to wine professionals and to the Castilian-Manchegan society. In this sense, he highlighted the fair's proven contribution to the historical data that the regional wine sector is harvesting in terms of exports, bet on quality and move towards greater profitability.
The vice president recalled the president's commitment Emiliano García-Page with the internationalization of the sector, a goal that, he stated, has always been FENAVIN's main driving force for development, even before becoming regional president. He also highlighted the collaboration between administrations in previous editions as a key factor in the fair's consolidation.
Castilla-La Mancha: world leader in vineyards, driving internationalization and profitability
Caballero emphasized the deep connection between wine and the region's identity, stating that "wine is life for our land" and a hallmark that strengthens the Spain brand, with Castilla-La Mancha boasting the world's largest vineyard. "Wine is in our culture, in our identity, and in our origins, and it is one of the pillars that best define our country," he asserted.
From Ciudad Real The vice president highlighted the strategic importance of the wine sector for Castilla-La Mancha in social, economic, and environmental terms, especially in a province that concentrates the largest production in the region and one of the most important nationally. "Forty-eight percent of the wine produced in our country originates here thanks to 80.000 winegrowers who cultivate 437.000 hectares of vineyards," he explained. He also emphasized the sector's commitment to quality, which has positioned Castilla-La Mancha as the region with the most internationally recognized quality labels, with 26 among them. Denominations of Origin (DO), Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) and single-estate wines.
Caballero acknowledged the efforts of farmers, winemakers, oenologists, and marketers, whose work is enabling historic figures to be achieved. He affirmed that the sector has the regional government as an ally, through economic stimulus policies, ongoing dialogue, and the defense of its interests before the European institutions.
Support for the challenges of internationalization, marketing, and sustainability
The Vice President announced that next week President García-Page will meet in Brussels with the European Commissioner for Agriculture, along with representatives of the regional agri-food sector. He will also participate in meetings in the European Committee of the Regions to defend a common position on the tariff policy of United States and policies to address climate change and sustainability.
Caballero advocated for united action at the European level in response to US tariffs, boosting sales in new markets and expanding existing ones. He also defended the need to develop policies that help the sector adapt to market changes through innovation, reaching new consumers, improving quality, and linking wine to a healthy lifestyle and responsible consumption.
Finally, she reaffirmed the regional government's commitment to sustainability, highlighting the sector's efforts in this area and the importance of moving toward an environmentally friendly approach, ensuring generational renewal, and greater representation of women in positions of responsibility.
The regional government maintains its firm support for FENAVIN
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has maintained its support for FENAVIN in this edition, as recently signed. Through the IPEX and Tierra de Viñedos Foundation, has managed to attract more than a hundred international buyers. In addition, an intensive promotional campaign has been developed and there is an institutional stand at the fair to highlight the quality of regional wines.
