This has been advanced by the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of the regional Government, Patricia Franco, at a business breakfast held at the Génova Business Circle, in Madrid. At the event, which was attended by around 120 people and which was held under the heading 'Castilla-La Mancha, epicenter of the new economy', Patricia Franco has highlighted the strengths and capabilities of the region to become the industrial heart of the country, and has reiterated the commitment of the Government of Emiliano de García-Page to keep the investment bar high, highlighting that in the region, since 2015, the attraction of foreign investment has multiplied by six in Castilla-La Mancha, “multiplying by three the growth recorded for the country as a whole.”

This effort to attract investments by the regional Executive, in this case through the Ministry of Economy, Business and Employment, has added another notch in its trajectory today, with the celebration of a business breakfast that has brought together nearly 120 representatives of companies, banking entities and public institutions to detail the strengths of the region to position itself as an industrial epicenter and the new economy of the country and its qualities for attracting investments. The event, promoted by the Institute for Foreign Promotion of the Ministry and by the Association of Multinational Brand Spain, has had the testimony of success from companies related to the circular economy that are developing their implementation projects in Castilla la Manchaas the Repetco y Life For Tires.

 

Throughout her presentation, the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment has emphasized the work of the regional Government to convert one of its given characteristics, its strategic location, into an opportunity for the region to stop being a land of passage “to be a territory in which to stay.” Based on that location and the work of promoting this geographical position in the heart of the compass rose of the country's communications by the regional Executive, Patricia Franco has given as examples of development the growth of the logistics sector, which has led the region to be the fourth with the largest storage capacity in the country, or the aeronautical sector, in which the region is the third region in sales volume in all the country.

 

The Minister of Economy, Business and Employment has also referred to other strategic sectors such as renewable energy, in which he has cited examples of public impulse such as the National Hydrogen Centre, Clamber or Institute of Concentrating Photovoltaic Systems; and the arrival of private initiative projects closely linked to the circular economy, such as the one being developed Life For Tires en Puertollano, for the launch in 2021 of a tire depolymerization plant, or that of Repetco in Albacete, for the recycling of multilayer plastics for food use.

 

In this sense, Patricia Franco has valued the pioneering approval in Castilla-La Mancha of a Circular Economy Law which results significantly in sustainability that transversally affects all the policies implemented by the regional government. “This law will favor the emergence of new business niches and is a fundamental part of the transition towards a circular economy,” detailed the counselor, who has placed sustainability at the center of the economic strategy in Castilla-La Mancha, together to other fundamental aspects such as innovation, digital transformation and internationalization, levers in addition to the Executive's business support strategy, the Adelante Plan 2020-2023.
