The Chilean Government awards the Itata Route concession to Sacyr

 

The initiative includes the modernization and expansion of routes 152 and 158, as well as the construction of a new route that will directly connect Route 152 with Route 146, consolidating a strategic road axis for the center of the country.

 

The announcement, made official through the publication of the Supreme Award Decree, marks the beginning of a large-scale project that will extend for a maximum period of 45 years. Sacyr Concessions It will be responsible for carrying out the improvement, construction, maintenance and operation of the works, both pre-existing and new.

 

The initiative includes the optimization of the current Routes 152, with a length of 75,1 km, and 158, with a length of 14,1 km, as well as the creation of a new 6,9 km section of dual carriageway. This new layout will allow a direct connection between Route 152 and Route 146, a concession currently managed by Sacyr through the company Valles del Biobío, which links the communes of Concepción and Cabrero.
 

 

The investment of approximately €516 million will be allocated to a series of substantial improvements, including standardizing the segregated median strip with guardrails, rehabilitating existing roadways, rectifying layouts, and installing new bridges and sections of service roads. The primary objective is to raise safety and comfort standards for users of this important thoroughfare.

 

Among the most notable projects, the new concession includes the construction of 10 new interchanges, two bridges, two viaducts, 2 new bus stops, 2 new footbridges, service roads, loops, and a new pedestrian bridge. In addition, more than 24 km of cycle paths will be added, signage and demarcation will be updated, and a free-flow electronic toll system will be installed.

 

Regarding the rehabilitation works, road safety will be updated with vertical and horizontal demarcation, containment systems will be implemented, bus stops and pedestrian sidewalks will be reconfigured, sanitation and drainage systems will be improved, and lighting systems will be modernized.
