Together with two other prestigious engineering companies
The project is large-scale and consists of widening I-10 to six general-purpose lanes and two high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction of the I-10 interstate highway with the state SR-143.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is undertaking the largest action carried out so far in its road network, with the project to remodel the link between the I-10 Broadway Curve and SR 143, over 11 miles (17,7 km), from junction 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) to I-17, near the international airport Sky harbor. This section supports daily traffic of 300.000 vehicles, making it a critical connection for the regional highway network in Phoenix.
This remodeling is being carried out in the form of a 'project and work' contract and the TYPSA Group, through its subsidiary AZTEC, together with two other prestigious engineering companies, is carrying out the project for the joint venture that develops it under the 'public-private partnership' scheme.
Improving regional mobility and access to economic centers through public-private participation
The project is large in scope and consists of widening I-10 to six general purpose lanes and two high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction, between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and I-17 , with a direct connection to SR 143, plus a fourth lane in each direction, between Ray Road and US 60. Collector-distributor roads parallel to I-10 are added between Baseline Road and 40th St. to separate I-10 traffic from local traffic. All of this involves replacing the Broadway Road bridge and the 48th Street bridges over I-10, and widening the I-10 bridges over the Salt River. New pedestrian and bicycle walkways are built on I-10 between Baseline and Broadway streets and the Sun Circle Trail intersection at Guadalupe Road is improved.
AZTEC carries out the project of the sections from south to east and from west to north, including an access to the road for high occupancy vehicles (HOV) integrated within the link, which requires the complete remodeling of the connecting branches, the trunk main and the intersection of lanes, to achieve its complete operability. Includes the redevelopment of 2 miles of I-10 and SR 143, 0,5 miles of arterial streets, a diamond interchange, 10 bridges, 12 interchange branches, and drainage systems inside and outside the city limits. road, as well as lighting, vertical and horizontal signage, landscaping and the relocation of the main public services.
The works are progressing at a good pace and it is estimated that in a year it will be a reality
As of late July 2023, the project has passed some significant construction milestones that have enabled the planned acceleration of construction toward completion in November 2024. Three new critical bridges have been opened to traffic allowing for the demolition of all three existing bridges that were the main bottlenecks when combining traffic with construction.
The works are progressing at a dizzying pace and the new link is taking shape as the main direct connection bridges are completed, along with important road paving works for the new lanes that are being built.
