The Ministry of Business, Social Economy and the Self-Employed, through the Development Institute (INFO), has captured international buyers and financed his travel to the 61st Yecla Furniture Fair to facilitate sales of exporters that exhibit their products in this contest.

 

After a pre-selection, with the support of the consultant of the INFO External Network based in Brussels, seven companies Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, two from Morocco, two from Italy and one of Germany, , have visited the stands of Murcian manufacturers in Yecla. The commercial advantage of attracting this type of customer is that, in addition to being able to analyze the product during the event, they have had the opportunity to visit the nearby factories in which they have been interested, thus being able to directly learn about the quality of the product. production and the importance that the Region's exporters attribute to design.

 

This recruitment activity has been complemented by the Yecla Fair Virtual Platform, started a couple of years ago by INFO as a result of the pandemic, but which continues to be active and has been energized in the markets of the aforementioned countries. Additionally, a positioning and communication campaign has been executed in the Mexican market.

 

The Development Institute, together with the Chambers of Commerce of Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca, and in the context of the Business Internationalization Plan 2023-2027 Region of Murcia, develops intense activity to support the furniture and decoration sector in foreign markets such as, for example, the 'Contract Plan', focused on furniture for hotels and restaurants, with the sixth edition of the 'Mediterranean Contract Forum', which took place a few days ago Cartagena, or the trade mission to Peru and Colombia, scheduled for next month.

The regional turnover of this sector reaches 750 million euros annually, which represents three percent of the total regional industry, and four percent of the industrial gross added value. The wood and furniture sector in the Region has more than 1.000 companies, of which 735 are dedicated to the manufacture of furniture and 295 to wood.

 

During the first quarter of 2023, exports from the sector reach 35 million euros, compared to 29,3 million euros in the same period of the previous year, which represents a growth of 19,2 percent.

 

In 2022, foreign sales of regional furniture mark a milestone by exceeding 122 million euros, compared to 79 million euros before the pandemic. Thus, the Region registers a growth of 2022 percent in 21 compared to 12 percent nationally. In this way, regional exports account for 6 percent of national exports in said period.
