Construction of Schenker's new Logistics Center in Nadarzyn, near Warsaw, scheduled to open in May 2002, is progressing rapidly. This center, with an operational area of over 16.000 m², built on a 170.000 m² site and equipped with 115 loading docks and a state-of-the-art IT system, will become a major hub for freight transport between Eastern and Western Europe. This new key point in Schenker's global network will also play a prominent role in shaping international supply chains, as Schenker is a leading player in the Polish market.
Schenker's two Polish subsidiaries, Schenker Sp. zoo and Spedpol Sp. zoo, will operate under one roof in Warsaw. Spedpol, with its own network of 18 terminals, is one of Poland's leading logistics providers specializing in domestic distribution, delivering 98% of goods within 24 hours. In Poland, Schenker provides comprehensive solutions for land, air, and sea freight, as well as related logistics services. These two Schenker affiliates will jointly implement logistics concepts for trade and industry. Both companies are fully integrated into Schenker's global network.
The Warsaw Logistics Center will offer cross-docking, national and European distribution, supply, and consolidated shipment services. This new Logistics Center will also include a bonded warehouse. The 12.000 m² terminal provides ample space to deliver high-level services. An additional 3.900 m² is designated for office space. Modern information and communication technology systems will not only ensure a continuous flow of data and goods but will also minimize turnaround times.
At the end of last August, Schenker opened another logistics terminal in Tarnowo Podgorne. These new facilities are located 20 km from Poznan, right next to the E30 motorway. The new terminal has 4.000 m² dedicated to logistics services and another 800 m² for offices. It also features 18 loading ramps and a direct connection to the Spedpol warehouse.
With a turnover of €5.900 billion, 29.000 employees, and over 1.000 offices worldwide, Schenker, a Stinnes Group company, is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics. Schenker covers road transport activities in Europe, air and sea freight globally, as well as comprehensive logistics solutions and supply chain management, all under one roof.
