In an effort to lead the transformation towards a more sustainable future, Banco Santander has inaugurated the «Santander X Global Research | Circular Economy RevolutionThis global challenge invites us to startups and scaleups from 11 countries to present their most innovative solutions in the field of the circular economy. The initiative highlights the importance of Brazil, one of the participating countries, highlighting the international scope of the project.
The main objective of this challenge is to catalyze the transition towards a economic model that prioritizes efficiency, sustainability, and respect for the environment. Interested companies have until May 9 to register and submit projects addressing four key areas:
- Recycling, recovery and reuse of materials and waste: Solutions that seek to give waste a second life, minimizing environmental impact.
- New circular materials, products and services: Innovations in design and production that prioritize sustainability and longevity.
- New circular business and monetization models: Proposals that reinvent the way we consume and produce, promoting the collaborative economy.
- Renewable energy and smart grids: Technologies that optimize energy use and promote the transition to clean sources.
“We believe in the power of business and entrepreneurship to transform the world. That’s why we would like to support those leading the change towards more sustainable business models, helping them grow and build a better world for future generations,” he stated. The selection process will culminate on May 23rd with the announcement of the 20 finalists. A jury of experts will select the six winners, who will share a total of €120.000 in prizes. The three best startups will receive €10.000 each, while the three most outstanding scaleups will receive €30.000 each.
In addition to the cash prize, the winners will have access to Santander X 100, an exclusive global community that brings together the most innovative companies from Santander X. They will also be able to connect with Fintech Station, the bank's Open Innovation area, opening doors to new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
This challenge underscores Banco Santander's commitment to sustainability and its support for entrepreneurship as a driver of change.
