The Port of Algeciras seeks to strengthen its position in the Project Cargo sector at BreakBulk Rotterdam

Shows its extensive capabilities

The Port of Algeciras was present this week at the BreakBulk Europe fair, the main fair for the Project Cargo sector held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Algeciras delegation, made up of representatives of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) and various local companies, has had the opportunity to show the extensive capabilities of the port in the management of this type of merchandise.

The Port of Algeciras stand has been located within the space Ports of Spain by Puertos del Estado, where they have shared the spotlight with other Spanish port authorities. During the fair, meetings have been held with potential clients, consignees, stevedoring and transport companies, and other key players in the sector.

Participation in BreakBulk Rotterdam is part of the Port of Algeciras' strategy to diversify its traffic and strengthen its position as a leading logistics hub in the Mediterranean.

Project Cargo encompasses the loading and unloading operations of oversized merchandise, such as industrial machinery, wind turbines or infrastructure components. This type of merchandise requires specialized logistics and adequate infrastructure, which the Port of Algeciras does have.

The port has docks such as Phase B of Exterior Green Island, specially designed for Project Cargo operations. In addition, we are betting on the use of flat rack containers, which facilitate the transport of this type of merchandise.

Along with the APBA, local companies with extensive experience in Project Cargo management have been present at the fair, such as Pérez y Cía, Alfaship, Next Maritime, Suardíaz Logistics, Total LogisticsServices, Transbull and TTI Algeciras.
